Meat, Rice and Chickpeas
1.In a large pot place the meat, onion, cardamom, black pepper and salt. Cover with water. Cook the meat for 30 minutes or until it cooked. Remove the meat from the broth and strain the broth. Reserve.
2.Soak the rice for 15 minutes. Drain.
3.In a medium size pot heat the oil over medium heat and add the onion and garlic. Stir until onion is golden brown.
4.Add the meat chunks and chickpeas. Stir for 2-3 minutes and then add the rice, turmeric, salt, black pepper, mixed spice and 3 cups of broth. Let the rice boils over high heat until it absorbs most of the broth. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to the lowest. Let the rice cook for 25-30 minutes.
5.Serve with yogurt salad.
